JOURNALISTIC SILENCE
ABOUT LINO OVIEDO
It calls the attention powerfully the journalistic silence
about Lino Cesar Oviedo. Since last week and with important
interviews carried out in Paraguay, by different media,
practically he has not been mentioned, collaborating with
it to increase the tense calm that for that reason they
are living in Paraguay.
It should be emphasized that an area of the press that has
taken ahead the treatment of so important matter -as it
is it the Paraguayan situation - for the Latin America.
Among the outstanding journalists we should mention Dr.
Mariano Grondona with their program Hora Clave; to Mr. Carlos
Varela at CVxCVN; America TV and their informative service
among others.
The interesting thing, from the mediatic point of view,
is that no informative service already mentions to Lino
Cesar Oviedo, in the way that they came mistakenly doing
as "former striking General", or as "the
moral author of the death of Vice-president Argaña"·
The truly wonderful thing is that not only it has changed
the image that erroneously had acquired the public opinion
but rather, although, anybody has left doubts of the mounted
plot (by those who today "they govern" Paraguay)
to pursue Oviedo politically, to all their followers and
sympathetic and to take ahead a hidden coup d’etat
as it was it that of the tragic events of the "Paraguayan
March."
Furthermore, today, they are counted with the fingers of
a hand the journalists that dare to name him with the title
of "General". Although it is true that he passed
to retirement some years ago, it is habit of the press to
name with their degrees to former military. But it exists
a phenomenon that we could classify as "psychological"
among the journalists and it is that no longer only they
have taken it off all from the facts that he is sought to
be wrongly imputed in Paraguay but rather - they have also
interpreted -the figure of Oviedo- as that of a democrat
one and don't as it has been wanted to foist him, that of
a sriker.
How good it is the fact of retracing the steps when somebody
makes a mistake in their accelerated appreciations, like
it happened in this case, where it was prejudiced because
they only have a part of the information.
Congratulation!.
These are the symptoms that show that an important sector
of the journalism wants to clean up the so wasted and pawed
public information.
