LINO OVIEDO’S PARTY COMMEMORATED THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY SINCE ITS LEGALIZATION

PARAGUAY, (CIN) A few days ago, the Unión Nacional de Ciudadanos Eticos party (UNACE) commemorated in a ceremony the first anniversary of its acknowledgement by the Electoral Tribunal. From abroad, the party’s leader and founder former General Lino Cesar Oviedo promised in a speech addressed to his supporters that he will soon return to Paraguay.
Oviedo lives in Brazil due to the unfair lawsuits brought against him by the Paraguayan Justice; he has been acquitted of the charges in all the cases except for one pending “show business” case in which he is accused of instructing the assassination of Vice President Luis Argaña. Lets remember that due to the inconsistency of such accusation Brazil’s court of justice released him from jail and denied his extradition by the end of 2001.
In the message addressed to his supporters the former army officer promised to return in the short term and asked them to go on with the fight together with the democratic parties “in favor of a democratic agreement for a constructive change, seeking the reversion of the social, economic and political crisis of our beloved country”, said Oviedo.
